What this site collects, why, and how long it is kept.
This is the personal website of Atakan Bakiskan. It collects nothing about you unless you send a message through the contact form. There are no cookies, no trackers, and no advertising.
If you use the contact form
What is stored
Your name, your email address, your message, and the moment you ticked the consent box. Nothing else.
What is not stored
No IP address and no browser or device information. That is a deliberate choice, not an omission.
Why
So that Atakan can read your message and reply. It is used for nothing else, and it is never sold, shared, or used to market anything to you.
How long it is kept
12 months, after which it is deleted automatically. You can ask for your message to be deleted sooner at any time.
Where it goes
Into this site’s own database and nowhere else. Messages are not emailed to a third party or passed to any other service.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies. It loads no fonts, scripts, or embeds from other companies, so no one else sees your visit.
The only thing kept in your browser is your choice of light or dark theme, and only once you have chosen one. It stays on your device, and it is never sent anywhere.
There is no analytics of any kind at present. If visitor counts are ever added they will be aggregate and cookieless, and this page will say so before they are switched on.
Who else is involved
Two companies host parts of this site and can therefore hold the information above on Atakan’s behalf. Both store it on servers in the United States.
Vercel
Serves the website itself.
Neon
Hosts the database that contact messages are stored in.
The domain registrar handles the address of the site only and never sees your message.
Your rights
You can ask what has been stored about you, ask for a copy, ask for a correction, or ask for it to be deleted. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Email atakan.bakiskan@mail.utoronto.ca and say what you would like done.
Changes
If what this site collects ever changes, this page is updated before the change goes live rather than after.
